Description
This item has been inspired from two similar motifs interpreted as “endless knot” and “ram’s horns”. It has been widely
used in rugs and weavings throughout the oriental carpets as a filler motif. This motif is widely used in Azerbaijani carpets, for example in so-called Talish borders, Pirabedil carpet. The cufflinks have also been decorated with S-symbol motives which are believed to be a symbol of funneled flow of water and thus hint at ameliorated way of life or, alternatively, stand for fertility and immortality.
