Description
Woven originally in the village of Findighan, this carpet type is also popular in other villages around Baku. Findigan carpets have two core margin strips instead of one. These margin strips depict floral motives and S-symbol motives which are believed to be a symbol of funnelled flow of water and thus hint at a settled-down, ameliorated way of life or, alternatively, stand for fertility and immortality. The core margin in Findighans is an archaic symbol. Four arcs are believed to represent four sides of the world.
