Description
Carpets from the Gazakh school have captivated international buyers with their distinctive ornaments, earning well-deserved placements in various museums worldwide, including the Berlin Art Museum, Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Hermitage, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the Budapest Art Museum.
This particular design draws inspiration from the ‘Aghajly’ carpet originating in Shikhly, a prominent part of the Gazakh carpet-weaving school. Shikhly carpets stand as classic examples of Azerbaijani folk art. The elongated element in the central area resembles a cypress tree, a revered symbol in the Middle East and Azerbaijan.
