Description

Irevan city and its tower experienced a period of prosperity during the reign of Huseinali Khan Qajar and his son Muhammed Khan. The construction of Sardar Palace took place under Huseinali Khan’s rule, with subsequent renovations carried out by the renowned architect of the time, Mirza Jafar Khoylu. The addition of the Mirrored Salon and Summer Mansion to Muhammed Khan Qajar’s palace in 1791 marked the completion of this grandiose structure as a monumental palace complex.

As per the historical accounts of the Irevan Khanate, the Sardar Palace began deteriorating in the mid-19th century. Consequently, valuable items, including paintings, were relocated to Tbilisi in the early 20th century. Despite its decline, the palace persisted into the initial years of the Soviet Union and remained a notable landmark in the city. Tragically, the Irevan Tower met its demise in 1964, demolished by Soviet Armenia and razed to the ground. Regrettably, the true fate of the palace and its treasures remains unclear to historians.
