Description
These findings are known as “Khojaly-Gadabay culture”. The monuments in the Khojaly region reflect the lifestyle and traditions of the local Turkic population. The region is also rich with Albanian temples, mosques, tombs and castles. There is an 18th-century “Asgeran Fortress” built by Garabagh khan Panah Ali Khan in Khojaly. The city’s residents2 were brutally massacred by Armenians on the night of February 25-26, 1992. As a result of this genocidal action 613 Khojaly residents, including 63 children, 106 women and 70 elderly people, were killed, 8 families were completely destroyed, 25 children lost both parents and 130 children lost one parent. 487 people, 76 of them children, were wounded and 1275 people were taken prisoner.
