Description
Zagatala, or the Zagataly district, comprises a cluster of villages situated approximately 75 miles north of Ganja in the heart of the Caucasus region.
Given its geographical proximity, motifs from the Zagatala district might rightly be examined alongside those of Qazakh, as they share many common elements. While these motifs are inherently connected, they are presented as a distinct group due to their recent emergence on 19th-century and early 20th-century rugs that have only recently made their way into the Western market. In addition to the showcased motifs, Zakatala rugs also feature prominent elements such as Lesghi stars, Memling guls, and the Fachralo (Fakhrali) medallion.
