Description
The complex includes Urud Castle, unique examples of gravestones in Urud graveyard and other historical monuments. These monuments with their graceful
artistic design reflect the beliefs of ancient people living in Zangazur area.
The Urud castle, standing on a sheer cliff is surrounded by the river Bazarchay on three sides and by the castle walls on one side. According to local people, a secret underground path leads to the river. Unfortunately, following the settlement of Armenians in the Zangazur area the name of the Urud complex was changed, it was partially destroyed, and the ancient inscriptions were erased or changed.
