Description
Malibeyli carpets are named after a village located close to Shusha. While the men of this village were occupied with cattle-breeding and crop-growing, carpet weaving was the main occupation for the women of Malibeyli. The patterns in five shapes depicted on these pieces of jewellery were brought in to Azerbaijan popular art from Uyghur/Chinese art, and were easily mingled with local culture due to the religious beliefs and life style of the population.
